How did your family and peers react to your inter-racial relationship?
My parents are in a inter-racial relationship themselves, so I am a product of bi racial love (black & white). My boyfriend is Puerto Rican and he is the first boyfriend I have dated that was not white. My parents did not have a problem with it, clearly, but my white grandparents had comments. I felt nervous bringing him to their house at first because I did not know what they were going to say. When I had mentioned that he wanted to be a politican, they replied "Well, he better change his name from Julio!" - I was sooo embarrassed!

Welcome!
Welcome Syracuse University students!
This is a project for our Intergroup Dialog class for Spring 2009 (SOC/WSP 230). We are five members of the group Adrienne, Katja, Jena, Samantha and Faith and our goal is to share and learn about the issues involving Inter- racial relationships.
Our group members will contact friends on campus who have been in Inter-racial relationships and share their stories through written posts, photos and video testimonials. All of the group members will contribute to the blog equally in different ways as discussed earlier.
